Overview
Asan Medical Center (AMC) is Korea’s largest general tertiary-care hospital, located in the eastern part of Seoul. It is one of the most sophisticated medical facilities in Korea with a total of 2,700 beds. The medical center encompasses 3 highly specialized institutes in Cancer Institute, Heart Institute and Children’s Hospital. There are 28 specialized centers, 54 clinical departments and a research institute for the life sciences.
AMC was founded in 1989, in fulfillment of the vision of the late Chairman Ju-Yung Chung, the founder of Hyundai Group. AMC adopted his pen-name ‘Asan’ to highlight its objective of improving the well-being and health of the people. From delivering top-notch medical services to leading biomedical research, AMC has expanded its role in Korean society through its consistent efforts and enthusiasm, as is stated in its mission.
